The new Chief Executive Officer Armando Torres of Mongolia's giant copper and gold Oyu Tolgoi mining enterprise held a meeting on Wednesday, 10th of May, with journalists. Earlier today (11th of May), Mining and Heavy Industries Minister, Ts.Dashdorj, received Armando Torres at Government House. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the actions and plans implemented by Oyu Tolgoi. Mr. Ts.Dashdorj noted that Oyu Tolgoi needs to hire more Mongolians, to improve workers situation and to construct apartments in Khanbogd Soum (district).
In August, Armando Torres replaced Andrew Woodley, who has been Oyu Tolgoi’s CEO since October 2014.
The Oyu Tolgoi mine is a combined open pit and underground mining project in Khanbogd sum within the south Gobi Desert.
